Kassanda Seed Junior School
Kassanda Town, located about 110 kilometers northwest of Kampala, Uganda, is a rural settlement of approximately 275,000 people, many of whom live in extreme poverty. Kassanda Children’s Aid, a board-directed, district-registered charity, was founded in 2014 by a group of Christian women in the US with the aim of supporting vulnerable children and their caregivers in the district. Their mission is to rescue disadvantaged children affected by poverty, often caused by the loss of loved ones.
One of their main initiatives is Kassanda Seed School, which serves around 170 students from Nursery to Primary 5, with ten teachers and three staff members. Education in Uganda is not free, and school fees cover teacher salaries, school materials, food, basic medical care, uniforms, and building maintenance. Most students, many of whom are orphans, come from peasant farming families who struggle to even grow food and feed themselves. Without access to education, these children are at risk of early pregnancies and human trafficking.
Donations help keep these children safe, break the cycle of poverty, and support their communities. Full child sponsorship costs approximately $43 CAD per month, covering school fees, teacher salaries, food, medicine, uniforms, and supplies. Kassanda Seed School envisions developing well-rounded, confident, and responsible leaders by providing a God-centered, welcoming, and supportive learning environment where all achievements are celebrated.

People with disabilities are not cursed or second class citizens like so many people in Uganda believe. District by District, month by month, they travel throughout the country challenging worldviews and showing the love of God. People with disabilities are a treasure to God; the Mugwanya’s lift them up out of the dirt and give them mobility.
